The edition presents the first scientifically verified publication of all compositions by the great Russian composer Alexander Scriabin. Every volume contains detailed commentaries, bar-by-bar textual notes (in Russian and English), and the list of sources and publications' references (edited by Valentina Rubtsova). This new publication allows recreate the process of Skriabin's artistic work, thus being of great importance both for performers and music scholars.
Vol. 8 contains impromptus, preludes, poems, and other pieces, composed in 1894-1903 (opuses 12-18, 21, 22, 25, 27, 28, 31-36). The editions issued during the composer's lifetime are compared with all surviving author's materials. The comments give the unique insight in the composer's creative laboratory. As an example we can
cite the facsimile sketches of the Prelude op. 15 No. 5 in C sharp minor, taken from Scriabin's notebook and his manuscript of the opus 15 (kept, respectively, at the Moscow Scriabin Museum and Russian National Library). To verify the note text the manuscripts were used, as well as editions of different years and the transcriptions of Scriabin's performing on the mechanical piano made by P.V. Lobanov, a researcher of composer's creative work.
