Dmitriy Bortnyanskiy is one of the greatest Russian composers of the times before Glinka, classic composer of the national religious music. 35 spiritual concerts for one chorus and 10 concerts for two choruses are widely known and have been published repeatedly. Though, a certain amount of the Bortnyansiy's creations, which have been mentioned in different lists, was allegedly lost. Nowadays, thanks to the careful work of researcher A. Lebedeva-Yemelina in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg archives, amount of the spiritual concerts has grown up by one third.
The work is prepared in the Department of Music of the State Institute of the Art Studies, and is a part of the scientific series "Synodic chorus library".
This edition will raise interest in professionals (music experts, presenters and conductors, chorus performers), as well as in all religious music fans.
