In the vast musical legacy of Alexander Dubuque (1812-1897/98), his songs and romances hold a special place. The best of them were so popular that they practically took on the status of "folk songs." Among them are "O My Heart, Why Are You Crying," "Don't Scold Me, My Darling," "A Small Farmstead," "O My Street, You Look Like You Are Drunk" and others.
In years past, Dubuque's songs and romances were included in the repertoire of many popular performers: Feodor Chaliapin, Yuri Morfessy, Nadezhda Obukhova, Oleg Pogudin, Evgeniya Smolyaninova and others.
This collection includes twenty of the composer's works, wonderful examples of Russian popular lyrics of the second half of the 19th century.
For concert performance and educational practice, as well as for amateur musicians.
